The automotive repair sector, which generates R$ 128 billion per year in Brazil, is the backdrop for the book O Legado 2T (The 2T Legacy) by Tauã Alonso. Published on September 8th, the work recounts the journey of Luciano Becaletto Alves (Tuta), the founding and consolidation of the company Martelinho de Ouro 2T in Presidente Prudente (SP), and the training of professionals in paintless repairs.

Martelinho de Ouro (PDR – Paintless Dent Repair) has established itself in recent decades as an essential technique in Brazilian automotive repair. The method, which allows for the correction of dents in the bodywork without the need for repainting, combines efficiency, economy, and reduced environmental impact.

According to Sebrae, the automotive maintenance sector moves approximately R$ 128 billion annually, comprises over 97,000 workshops, and employs about 760,000 people across the country. Concurrently, according to projections by Grand View Research, the global automotive collision repair market was estimated at US$ 199.56 billion in 2023 and is projected to reach US$ 227.60 billion by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 1.9% from 2024 to 2030. The technique has expanded at a steady pace over the last 15 years, driven by the increase in the vehicle fleet and climate events, such as hailstorms, which generate demand spikes for fast and specialized services.

It is within this context that the book O Legado 2T was launched. Written by Tauã Alonso, it presents the trajectory of Luciano Becaletto Alves (Tuta), a leading professional in the diffusion of PDR in Brazil. The work documents the origin of the company Martelinho de Ouro 2T, founded in Presidente Prudente (SP), and the creation of its automotive training center dedicated to qualifying professionals in the paintless repair sector.

According to the author, the goal of the book is to record the consolidation process of technical education in the automotive segment. "The work seeks to systematize a history that was built in the workshops, showing how empirical knowledge transformed into a foundation for professional training. The automotive training center emerged to organize this knowledge and democratize access to nationally recognized qualification," explains Alonso.

The book also analyzes the transformation of the craft into a structured technical career, following the growing demand for efficiency, sustainability, and standardization. Alonso highlights that "continuous training is a key element for the sector's evolution, especially in a scenario of fleet expansion and demand for cleaner and more precise practices."

In addition to covering Tuta's trajectory, O Legado 2T contextualizes the cultural and economic changes that marked the advancement of PDR in Brazil. The publication features reports from professionals, historical records, and reflections on the role of training in valuing a line of work essential for maintaining urban mobility.

Produced under the general direction of Tauã Alonso, with editorial coordination by Grupo Acerte and editing by Paulo Lino da Fonseca Junior, O Legado 2T features proofreading by Larissa Camila and graphic design by Grupo Acerte. The work is registered under ISBN 978-65-01-64011-2 and gathers documents, interviews, and analyses on the development of the automotive repair sector and the institutionalization of technical education in the country.
